Set-out surveys

A set-out survey is a process where a plan of development or proposed structure is marked out in the precise physical location on a site. Working from architectural designs, it is the role of the land surveyor to prepare a plan showing where any points or grid reference points are to be marked, and then clearly mark and label them on the site for construction to begin.

New estate and Greenfield site set out

This will include setting out individual property sites, proposed structures and land developments which require earthworks and volume computations for site cut and fill, as well as setting out of roads, pathways, nature strips, driveways, kerb layout, utility access, and any other features.

House/unit site set out

Before any house or multi-unit development can begin, a set-out is required to clearly mark the correct position of the proposed structure onto the site for builders and sub-contractors to begin construction exactly as planned. Reference points are offset from the design to be marked along existing fences or on temporary structures which will form gridlines to show the edges of the foundation, or staked out as individual points where required.

Engineering Surveys / Civil Construction Set out

Any type of infrastructure (i.e. roads, railways, bridges etc.) involves setting out the horizontal and vertical alignment of proposed surfaces and structures in precise locations according to engineering plans.
